Students planning to travel back home for festivals, semester breaks or family visits can look for discounts and other travel benefits offered by airlines. Air India is offering a limited-period discount on domestic fares, along with a separate offer for free date changes on select international flights.
Air India Express also has a student fare offer with discounts, additional baggage allowance and reduced date-change fees. Students are advised to check each airline’s official website or app for full eligibility criteria and terms before booking, as the offers have different deadlines and conditions.
Air India Offers 10% discount on domestic fares
Air India is offering a flat 10% discount on domestic base fares for eligible one-way and round-trip bookings made by October 20. Students can access the offer through the airline’s website or mobile app by selecting ‘student’ under the concession type while booking.
The airline’s year-round student programme also provides up to 10% off eligible domestic and international fares, an additional 10 kg of baggage allowance and one complimentary date change on eligible bookings.
To qualify for domestic student benefits, passengers must be at least 12 years old on the date of travel and enrolled in a full-time course lasting at least one academic year. Students may need to present supporting documents, such as a student identity card or an acceptance letter, at check-in.
Students booking through Air India’s website or app can also get a 50% reduction in convenience fees. Eligible domestic bookings paid for using UPI may qualify for an additional discount of up to ₹1,000 per passenger with the promo code UPIPROMO, subject to the applicable conditions.
Air India Offers free date change on select international flights
Air India is also offering one free date change on eligible international flights booked through its website or mobile app by October 15. The offer covers flights between India and Europe, the US, Canada and Australia and applies to one-way and round-trip bookings across cabin classes.
The date-change request must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled departure. Any fare difference between the original and revised booking will still apply.
The offer is available to adult passengers on flights operated by Air India, subject to seat availability. Children and infants, group bookings, multi-city bookings, concessionary fares and bookings made using Maharaja Club Points or Cash + Points are excluded.
Air India Express offers up to 15% off student fares
Air India Express is offering students up to 15% off base fares using the promo code VIBES. The offer is available on bookings made through the airline’s website or mobile app, with the booking and travel period running until March 31, 2027.
Other benefits include an additional 10 kg of check-in baggage allowance, a date-change fee of ₹99 for domestic flights and ₹249 for international flights and zero convenience fees on Flex Fare bookings.
The additional baggage allowance and reduced date-change and cancellation fees apply when students select the Value Fare and book through the airline’s official platforms using the student discount. Date changes under the offer are permitted up to two hours before departure.
Students must be over 12 years old on the day travel begins and present a valid student photo identity card from a recognised educational institution at the airport during check-in.
