In the first seven months of ****, US apparel imports from India fell about ** per cent to $*.** billion, according to the US Commerce Department’s Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA). The decline was sharper than that of Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia, although China recorded an even larger fall. The data suggest that tariff differences alone do not explain the divergence in supplier performance.

Vietnam retained its lead at about $*.** billion, while Bangladesh reached $*.** billion, narrowly ahead of China at $*.** billion.
