Under the partnership, UPI acceptance will be progressively enabled across participating merchants on FOMO Pay’s network, allowing Indian travellers to pay through their existing UPI apps.
Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) is among the first merchants to go live under the arrangement. Indian travellers can use UPI to book and pay for participating experiences through the resort’s website.
The development is aimed at expanding UPI’s use for cross-border payments by Indian consumers travelling to Singapore. According to the companies, Singapore received 1.2 million Indian visitors in 2025.
The partnership initially focuses on online payments. It could eventually extend UPI acceptance to other participating merchants within FOMO Pay’s network.
For travellers, UPI acceptance can reduce the need to use cash or enter card details for eligible transactions. The payment is made through the customer’s UPI app, subject to the app and merchant supporting the transaction.
For Singaporean merchants, accepting UPI provides access to Indian customers who already use the payment system for domestic transactions.RWS, located on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, includes attractions such as Universal Studios Singapore, Singapore Oceanarium and Adventure Cove Waterpark, along with hotels, restaurants and retail outlets.
NIPL, the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has been working to expand UPI acceptance and partnerships outside India. The latest tie-up adds to its efforts to enable Indian consumers to use UPI for payments while travelling overseas.
