Revanth Reddy is set to attend Harvard’s leadership programme, a first for any sitting Indian CM. His enrolment sparked criticism from BRS, which questioned his foreign trips.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to attend the “Leadership: 21st Century” programme at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Reddy is the first sitting Chief Minister in independent India to enroll in an Ivy League programme.
According to a release, the Telangana CM will attend classes in a Harvard programme from January 25 to 31. Reddy will be on the Kennedy School campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts, joining a diverse class of students from over 20 countries across five continents, news agency ANI reported.
The programme, chaired by Prof. Tim O’Brien and directed by Prof. Karen Morrissey, involves group projects, assignments, and classroom presentations. The curriculum is designed to analyse case studies from various parts of the world and across different eras of history. Participants will examine global leadership challenges and propose solutions, with the curriculum designed to offer practical, interactive learning experiences.
Upon completion, the Chief Minister will receive a course certification from Harvard, a first for any sitting Indian CM.
BRS Criticises Reddy Over Harvard Enrolment
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) criticised Reddy’s enrolment in the leadership programme, raising questions over his foreign travel. The party alleged that by attending the course, the Chief Minister had effectively acknowledged a lack of knowledge and the need to learn, contrasting his visit with earlier Chief Ministers who, it claimed, went to Harvard to deliver lectures rather than attend classes.
BRS leaders said the state has pressing issues that require attention within Telangana itself. They further accused Reddy of undertaking frequent foreign trips at the expense of public funds and claimed that these visits have failed to bring any tangible investment into the state.
In a separate initiative, Reddy earlier emphasised the importance of foreign language skills for students to compete globally. During a visit to a nursing college in Khammam, he announced that the state government will establish dedicated facilities to teach Japanese, Korean, and German. This initiative aims to help Telangana’s nursing graduates access international employment opportunities, responding to high demand in countries like Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
CM Reddy said that during his recent foreign visit, many people praised the services of Indian nurses, particularly those from Telangana. The new language training programme will also include students from Yedulapuram nursing colleges.
Speaking on healthcare and education, the Chief Minister underscored the critical role of medical professionals, calling doctors “next to God” and expressing confidence that Telangana nurses would further enhance the state’s prestige through their expertise and dedication.
