A video purportedly showing JD(U) MLA Anant Singh, aka ‘Chhote Sarkaar’, smoking inside a hospital has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and raising questions over the conduct of the ruling party legislator.
According to media reports, the video was captured at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna, where Singh was taken for medical examination while lodged in Beur jail.
The video, which is now making rounds online, has triggered a widespread backlash with the opposition throwing brickbats at the ruling party.
RJD spokesperson Priyanka Bharti shared the clip on X, targeting the Nitish Kumar-led government in Bihar. “Anant Singh, blowing good governance up in smoke,” she wrote, adding, “Nitish ji’s pampered villain is making reels while smoking a cigarette in the hospital!”

Anant Singh, a gangster-turned-politician, was arrested ahead of the assembly polls in Bihar in connection with the murder of Dular Chand Yadav, a supporter of the Jan Suraaj Party (JSP).
Despite his arrest, he contested the Bihar assembly polls 2025 and emerged victorious from his stronghold, the Mokama constituency, on a JD(U) ticket.
Singh is widely famous for his influential and controversial image of “strongman” in the politics of Bihar.
