A significant display of political outreach unfolded on Wednesday as senior leaders, MPs and ministers from across the political spectrum gathered at Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SCP) veteran Sharad Pawar’s New Delhi residence for a high-profile dinner.

The special dinner was organised ahead of Pawar’s birthday on December 12, which he is likely to celebrate in Mumbai. To mark the occasion, Pawar hosted a warm informal dinner that drew a diverse list, including leaders from both factions of the Nationalist Congress Party, the Opposition, and even members of the ruling NDA.

Among the early arrivals was NCP president Ajit Pawar, whose presence, following the split in the party, added political significance to the evening. Recently, Ajit Pawar and his rival nephew, Rohit Pawar were seen shaking a leg together in the wedding procession of latter’s youngers son, Jay Pawar.

From the NDA side, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu joined the celebrations, along with a few MPs. Senior Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Manish Tewari, TMC MP Saugata Roy, former Union minister D Purandeswari, and several other prominent Opposition figures were also present.

In a major highlight, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also reached Pawar’s residence late in the evening, heightening the political buzz around the gathering. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also attended the dinner.

While the evening was officially a simple birthday gathering, the presence of leaders cutting across alliances has set off a fresh round of speculation about shifting equations — and whether Sharad Pawar’s dinner diplomacy could be the prelude to new political alignments.
