An unusual and lighthearted moment unfolded in Parliament on Saturday morning during a formal event. Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju was surrounded by several MPs, including Rahul Gandhi and Rajeev Shukla. Their brief chat was not about politics or parliamentary developments but about something they both enjoy—fitness.
Rijiju began by asking Rahul about his workout routine. Rahul replied that he exercises regularly. When Rijiju asked whether he trains at home or at a gym, Rahul said he works out at home and immediately invited Rijiju, “Come home, let’s exercise together.”

Rahul, known for his enthusiasm for gym workouts, martial arts, and judo, offered to teach Rijiju some judo moves. Rijiju responded with a witty quip: “We are very busy people. We need to work—we can’t afford to get hurt.” The remark made those around them laugh, but Rahul insisted, saying it would be fun and good for fitness.
This is not the first time the two leaders have been seen chatting in Parliament. Their conversations, often noticed even before meetings begin, usually revolve around health and exercise.
Inside Parliament, they may stand on opposite ends of the political spectrum, but their camaraderie over fitness is a reminder that, at the end of the day, health transcends politics.
