The Maharashtra Legislature’s Winter Session will be held in Nagpur from Monday, December 8 to Sunday, December 14, 2025. Notably, despite December 13 (Saturday) and December 14 (Sunday) being government holidays, both Houses will continue to function on these days. The decision was finalised during a meeting of the Legislature’s Business Advisory Committee held at the Vidhan Bhavan.
The committee meeting witnessed the presence of top presiding officers and senior leaders from the state government and opposition. Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Rahul Narwekar, Legislative Council Chairman Prof. Ram Shinde, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, as well as Deputy Chairperson of the Legislative Council Dr. Neelam Gorhe and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Anna Bansode attended the discussions.
Key ministers including Higher and Technical Education and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant (Dada) Patil, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Water Resources Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, and Cultural Affairs Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar were also present.
Prominent members from both Houses — Sudhir Mungantiwar, Deepak Kesarkar, Jitendra Awhad, Bhaskar Jadhav, Sunil Prabhu, Amin Patel, Anil Parab, Prasad Lad, Praveen Darekar, Vikram Kale and Satej Patil — joined the deliberations along with Legislature Secretary Jitendra Bhole and senior officials.
During the meeting, Speaker Narwekar shared that a special publication is scheduled for the session.
Earlier this year, on March 26, 2025, a historic discussion was held in the Assembly celebrating the glorious 75-year journey of the Indian Constitution during the Amrit Mahotsav era.
Responding to the debate, CM Fadnavis delivered an important speech highlighting the constitutional values that have shaped India’s democracy.
That speech has now been compiled into a book through the initiative of the Maharashtra Legislature’s V.S. Page Parliamentary Training Centre. The book is set to be released on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat at a formal ceremony.
The Speaker described it as a timely and insightful compilation that documents the significance of India’s constitutional journey.
The upcoming session in Nagpur, the state’s winter capital, is expected to see crucial debates and legislative business, with the government preparing to table key policy decisions and the opposition gearing up to raise pressing public issues.
With a busy schedule planned even on weekends, the Winter Session is projected to be one of the most productive legislative gatherings of the year.
