Former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, purportedly spent Rs 222.85 crore of public money on helicopter and aircraft travel between 2019 and 2024. Data from Andhra Pradesh Aviation Corporation Ltd (APACL) revealed that Jagan Mohan Reddy spent Rs 87.02 crore on helicopters, Rs 112.50 crore on fixed-wing aircraft, and Rs 23.31 crore on boarding, crew handling, and lodging, all fully drawn from the state treasury.
These disclosures come as RTI replies from all four departments under Minister Nara Lokesh contradict Jagan-owned Sakshi TV’s recent claims that he took “77 flights to Hyderabad” at government expense. Each department confirmed in writing that Minister Lokesh did not claim a single rupee for any official travel, with every ticket, including special flights, paid entirely from his personal income.
Hitting out at Jagan Mohan Reddy, Lokesh said, “While people struggled for jobs and amenities, their CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, was splurging Rs 500 crore on a palace and Rs 222 crore on flying around. We’re finally hearing the truth. Andhra Pradesh deserved a vision—they got a vacation instead.”
Reacting sharply, the ruling Telugu Desam Party said, “YSRCP’s lies stand clearly exposed in front of the masses now. They should be ashamed for trying to fool the people of the state with their false propaganda. Contrary to their claims, now YS Jagan’s ‘vacationing’ on the state’s expense has been exposed. Will Sakshi demand accountability from YS Jagan? We dare them to question Jagan and YSRCP with the same vigour and diligence with which they were trying to defame TDP. Can they do that? Why is Sakshi trying so hard to hide Jagan’s Rs 222-crore air travel indulgence? Their discomfort speaks louder than their allegations.”
The YSRCP responded strongly to this, even calling Lokesh a “con artist”.
We always wonder how you became a minister except through your father. At such a young age in politics, you have already mastered the art of becoming a con artist in spreading cooked up lies. Maybe it runs in the family. After all, your father is the champion of lies in Indian… https://t.co/9mu7rH4Mcm— YSR Congress Party (@YSRCParty) December 2, 2025
The opposition party also dared the minister to show the full record of the air travel bills of his father, N Chandrababu Naidu, when he was CM for 15 years.
