The BJP on Wednesday mocked the ongoing power struggle within the Karnataka Congress by sharing an AI-generated video depicting a game of musical chairs for the Chief Minister’s seat.
The satirical clip portrays caricatures of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Home Minister G. Parameshwara, and PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi vying for the coveted position.
In the animated video, the four leaders circle around the Chief Minister’s chair, each trying to outmaneuver the others to claim it. The BJP’s Karnataka unit shared the video on social media with the caption, “Countdown to the November Revolution!”, hinting at what it describes as an impending leadership shake-up in the ruling Congress government.
In recent months, speculation about a possible change of guard has dominated Karnataka’s political circles. The chatter traces back to the 2023 Assembly election, which saw the Congress return to power.
During the government formation, DK Shivakumar was seen as a strong claimant for the Chief Minister’s post, having played a pivotal role in the party’s sweeping victory. However, the high command ultimately picked Siddaramaiah for the top job, persuading Shivakumar to accept the Deputy Chief Minister’s position and continue as the state Congress chief.
Although some reports suggested a power-sharing arrangement between the two leaders, neither the party nor its leadership has ever officially acknowledged such an understanding.
