The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fresh attack on former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of using the resources of the Punjab government to build a sprawling 2-acre mansion in Chandigarh, dubbing it ‘Sheesh Mahal 2.0’.
The BJP attack came after former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal had alleged that Kejriwal has been allotted a “luxurious 7-star government mansion” in Chandigarh’s Sector 2 under the Chief Minister’s quota.
“Sheesh Mahal 2.0. After getting a Rs 52 crore Sheesh Mahal built in Delhi, now Kejriwal will lounge in a 7-star government mansion spanning 2 acres in Chandigarh. The royal luxuries of Sir Ji, who puts on a drama of being an ordinary man in front of the public, show no signs of diminishing at all,” said the BJP on X.

“In Chandigarh’s Sector 2, Arvind Kejriwal has been allotted a luxurious 7-star government bungalow spread over 2 acres from the chief minister’s quota,” the party said, mocking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader as “Super CM” and sharing a satellite image of the bungalow.
“Kejriwal is neither a minister nor an MLA, yet his attachment to opulent palaces, regal comforts, and luxury doesn’t seem to let go.”
AAP Refutes Allegations
Meanwhile, AAP refuted the claims, saying it was the CM’s camp office and accusing the BJP of spreading fake news. “Ever since the Prime Minister’s fake Yamuna story was exposed, the BJP seems to have lost its cool. And in its frustration, the BJP these days is faking everything,” it said on X.
“Fake Yamuna, fake pollution figures, fake claims of rainfall, and now fake 7-star claims. The BJP’s fake claim is that they’ve built a 7-star house in Chandigarh, but the Chandigarh administration is under the BJP. Only they can get something built – no one else.”

“The BJP’s fake claim is that Kejriwal ji has been allotted a house, so where is the allotment letter? By sharing a photo of the CM’s camp office, the frustrated BJP is making all sorts of fake claims,” the party said.
Swati Maliwal’s Remarks On Kejriwal
Earlier, Swati Maliwal alleged that Kejriwal had been allotted an “even more splendid Sheesh Mahal” in Punjab. “In Chandigarh’s Sector 2, a luxurious 7-star government mansion of 2 acres under the CM quota has been allotted to Arvind Kejriwal,” she said on X.
“Yesterday, he boarded a government helicopter right from in front of his house for Ambala, and then from Ambala, the Punjab government’s private jet took him to Gujarat for party work. The entire Punjab government is engaged in serving one man.”
The row over Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, while he was Delhi’s Chief Minister, began in 2024, after the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) submitted a factual report on the complaint of BJP leader Vijender Gupta, alleging illegal construction at Kejriwal’s official residence, located at 6 Flag Staff Road. Gupta alleged that Kejriwal flouted building regulations to construct a lavish mansion (‘Sheesh Mahal’) covering 40,000 square yards (8 acres).
The complaint highlighted that government properties, including Plot numbers 45 and 47 on Rajpur Road (previously housing senior officers and judges in Type-V flats) and two bungalows (8-A & 8-B, Flag Staff Road), were demolished and merged into the new residence, violating ground coverage and floor area ratio (FAR) norms and lacked proper layout plan approvals.
In his complaint to the Chief Vigilance Commissioner, Gupta wrote about massive financial irregularities, stating that Arvind Kejriwal spent crores of taxpayers’ money on luxurious amenities for his residence. He stated that the expenditures on luxury items far exceeded reasonable limits and raised serious concerns about corruption.
