The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its preparations for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls with a two-day meeting of the state election committee scheduled in Patna on October 4 and 5.
This important strategy session will be attended by the BJP’s election in-charge for Bihar, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, along with co-incharges Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Gujarat BJP president CR Patil. State BJP president Dilip Jaiswal, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, and senior party leader Vijay Kumar Sinha will also participate.
During the discussions in Patna, the BJP will review its list of constituencies and potential candidates. This process will lay the groundwork for the party’s next phase of election preparations.
After the Patna meetings, the Bihar BJP core group is expected to hold further discussions in Delhi. Following this, the names of candidates will be presented to the BJP’s Central Election Committee for final approval.
In parallel, the BJP will intensify negotiations on seat-sharing arrangements with its allies. In the next two to three days, discussions are expected in Delhi with Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, Hindustani Awam Morcha leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Rashtriya Lok Samata Party founder Upendra Kushwaha.
Party insiders indicate that the outcome of these discussions will determine the exact seat distribution among the NDA allies. Only after a formula is finalised will it be clear which party will contest from which constituencies. However, it is clear that winnability will be the primary criterion for seat allocation, regardless of alliance partners’ demands, according to the quota. Currently, the alliance partners have reached at least an understanding of which caste combinations will be beneficial in which seats.
On-ground coordination between the alliance partners is progressing well, say sources, with joint programmes being conducted using the symbols of all parties, signalling a united force. It is also understood that the upcoming manifesto will be a common one for the entire alliance. In fact, the campaign strategy will also be unified, with all leaders expected to campaign for all candidates.
The fast-tracked meetings signal the BJP’s intent to enter the Bihar polls with a clear strategy, balancing internal candidate selection with coalition management.
