BJP leader and Union minister Pralhad Joshi on Thursday slammed Rahul Gandhi for his accusations on the Election Commission and “votes being deleted in a centralised manner” claim, terming them as “Rahul Gandhi’s new fairytale – ‘vote chori’!”. Joshi’s comments came after the poll body dismissed the Congress leader’s accusations and termed them “incorrect and baseless”.

Attacking the Congress party over its fake allegations of vote chori on the Election Commission, the Union minister accused Rahul Gandhi of “attention chori”.

Taking to X, Joshi wrote, “After his failed attempt on his vote chori allegations, which was debunked and exposed CONgress for the fake claims, yet again Attention chori, Rahul Gandhi chooses to not learn from earlier mistakes. The Election Commission of India has clearly denied his baseless claims, reaffirming that no votes can be deleted online.”

The Union minister further mocked Rahul Gandhi for bringing in the example of Aland, a constituency in Karnataka, where the Congress party won elections and stated that claim that the voters were deleted online is laughable. “Rahul is unaware of the election process, period. Does he not know that voters cannot be deleted online? Why did he not speak about Malur Assembly seat in Karnataka?” Joshi added.

Terming the Congress party as the “real vote chor”, the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs referred to the Malur constituency in Karnataka, where the election of Congress legislator KY Nanjegowda was set aside by the High Court because of poll malpractice and a fresh counting of votes was ordered.

“The real vote chor is CONgress. After losing 20+ elections on EVMs, maybe it’s not the machine, it’s the CONgress that’s faulty,” Union minister Pralhad Joshi said.

EC Rejects Rahul Gandhi’s Claims

Soon after Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi accused Election Commission of acting in a biased manner and shielding what he described as the “destroyer of democracy”, the poll body responded stating that the allegations made against it are “incorrect and baseless”.

“No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Gandhi,” the ECI in its fact-check report said.
