AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami said that there is excessive political interference in policing, which he claimed is leading to a rise in honour killings in Tamil Nadu.
“There is too much political influence in policing, which is causing more honour killings in Tamil Nadu,” he said during an interview with PTI.
Speaking about the Mullaperiyar dam issue, he said that the DMK should use its influence in the INDIA alliance to solve the matter.
Political parties may express their wish, but people of Tamil Nadu know that the real face-off is between two big parties, he said.
Mullaperiyar dam plays a significant role in supporting agriculture and water supply for Tamil Nadu.
Tamil Nadu has also accused Kerala of blocking routine maintenance work by denying permissions and approvals.
The dispute intertwines technical safety, judicial oversight, and intense political friction between the two states.
