The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has called for a five-hour ‘Bihar Bandh’ on Thursday, September 4, to protest against the alleged derogatory and abusive slogans hurled against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother by Congress workers last week in Darbhanga, during the Voter Adhikar Yatra.

The bandh, as announced during a joint press conference of all the NDA allies, would be in force from 7am to 12 noon on Thursday.

The BJP said that railways and emergency services, however, won’t be impacted during the protest.

Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal, who earlier today broke down as he watched PM Modi speaking about the alleged abuse at his late mother, slammed the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) saying there can be no bigger sin than abusing a dead woman.

Jaiswal said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav have brought “shame” to “the land of Bihar.”

“Today, Prime Minister Modi gave financial help to the mothers and sisters of Bihar to make them self-reliant. 20 lakh mothers and sisters were listening to Prime Minister Modi…There can be no bigger sin than abusing the late mother of Prime Minister Modi from the platform of Congress and RJD. Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav have shamed the land of Bihar,” he was quoted by news agency ANI as saying.

PM Modi’s Response To Abuse

Earlier today, the Prime Minister got emotional while responding to derogatory remarks made against him and his late mother from the stage of the RJD-Congress event in Bihar.

While virtually addressing an event in Bihar, PM Modi called the matter “painful”, saying that she (her mother) is gone, yet she is targeted from the “Congress-RJD” stage.

“Mother is our world. Mother is our self-respect. I had not even imagined what happened a few days ago in this tradition-rich Bihar. My mother was abused from the stage of RJD-Congress in Bihar,” said PM Modi, appearing visibly emotional.

PM Modi, with a cracking voice, said the language used was an insult to all mothers and daughters of Bihar.

“My mother separated me from her so that I could serve crores of mothers like you. You all know that now my mother is not alive. Some time ago, after completing 100 years of age, she left us all. That mother of mine, who has nothing to do with politics, who is no more, was abused from the stage of the RJD, Congress,” he said.

A controversy erupted in poll-bound Bihar after abusive language was used against PM Modi and his late mother by some Congress workers during Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra. The BJP filed an FIR at Kotwali Police Station in Patna over the alleged remark and demanded an apology from the Congress MP.

A viral video surfaced showing a man hurling Hindi abuse at PM Modi’s mother from the Congress-RJD stage.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Rizvi alias Raza (20), was later arrested from the Singhwara area of Darbhanga town.
