An FIR has been registered against actor Vijay and 10 others for manhandling the crowd at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally.
According to sources, the FIR has been registered under sections 296 (B), 115 (2) and 182 (2) of the Bharatiya Nayay Sanhita (BNS).
The development came after an advocate hailing from Thiruthuraipoondi, lodged a complaint against TVK founder Vijay alleging that the actor-turned-politician made demeaning remarks against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Vijay, one of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated actors, announced his entry into electoral politics in February 2024 by launching Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
The TVK founder claimed that Tamil Nadu 2026 is a straight fight between his Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), dismissing the principal opposition party, the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam AIADMK) as a non-entity.
