Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who is regarded as one of the most popular stars in South Indian cinema, is all set to return to the big screen with the action-packed thriller, Madharaasi. Written and directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is scheduled to release on September 5. Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, the trailer and audio launch event was held in Chennai. It was attended by director AR Murugadoss, music composer Anirudh Ravichander, actress Rukmini Vasanth and lead actor Sivakarthikeyan.
Speaking at the event, Sivakarthikeyan took a moment to thank the veteran filmmaker for casting him in the film. He also addressed the growing speculation that he is trying to be the “next Thalapathy” after he announced his political entry.
Sivakarthikeyan addressed the most-talked-about scene in GOAT.
In Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT., Vijay is seen handing over the gun to Sivakarthikeyan, as he tells him to look after it, while the latter says he has bigger things to do in life and he will take care. The scene, which was well-received by fans, stemmed the chatter that Sivakarthikeyan will be replacing Vijay in the cinema field as the latter takes up politics.
Addressing the criticisms raised about the scene, Sivakarthikeyan said, “After I acted with Vijay sir in the scene, many loved it. The way I see it is that he likes and encourages my work and keeps up the good job. More like a pat.”
He added that some people started calling him “Kutty Thalapathy”, “Thideer Thalapathy” and more, but he shut down the comparisons, stating, “All I want to say is that he would not have given me the thuppakki (gun) if I were a person thinking like that and I would not have received it either. Annan annan dhan, thambi thambi dhaan. (The elder brother is always the elder brother… the younger brother is always the younger brother.) I want to say this for the last time here. No one can take over anyone’s fans.”
Sivakarthikeyan’s message to fans
Sivakarthikeyan also shared a heartfelt message for his fanbase, stating that having fans who supported him through 15 years of hard work was more than enough. He also pointed out that even greats like Sachin and Dhoni face criticism, so fans shouldn’t get angry due to social media criticism. They should remain calm and move forward.
Madharaasi’s cast and release date
Set to release on September 5, Madharaasi stars Sivakarthikeyan alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Biju Menon, Vidyut Jammwal and Vikranth. The film is touted to be a gritty action thriller packed with high-octane stunts and intense drama. If you miss the film in theatres, fret not! The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film have already been acquired by Prime Video, ensuring no one misses the action thriller after its theatrical run.
