Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to BJD leader and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the phone to enquire about his health.
Patnaik, who is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, received warm wishes from the Prime Minister for a speedy recovery.
During the conversation, PM Modi advised the BJD leader to take adequate rest and expressed his desire to meet him in Delhi soon once his health gets better.
According to news agency PTI, Leader of the Opposition in Odisha Assembly, Patnaik was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday due to dehydration.
The 78-year-old former chief minister had complained of uneasiness on Saturday night, and some doctors had visited his residence, Naveen Niwas, the party leaders said.
In a statement, the private hospital had stated that Patnaik’s condition was stable and was “responding well to treatment.”
“Shri Naveen Patnaik was admitted to SUM Ultimate Medicare, Bhubaneswar, at 5.15 pm today due to dehydration. His condition is stable and he is responding well to treatment,” a bulletin issued by the private hospital said.
Later, the five-time CM posted a video message on social media platform X, thanking the people of the state for sending him good wishes. In the video, he state he was recovering well.
The BJD chief captioned the video as, “Thank the people of #Odisha for the good wishes. I would like to thank the doctors and medical staff for taking wonderful care of me. I am recovering well and will meet the people soon.(sic)”
Patnaik, who had undergone spinal surgery for cervical arthritis at a hospital in Mumbai, had returned to Odisha on July 12. He had left for Mumbai on June 20 and underwent the procedure on June 22. He was discharged from the Mumbai hospital on July 7.
