Union Home Minister Amit on Friday vowed to end Chief Minister MK Stalin’s rule in Tamil Nadu and asserted that the BJP-AIADMK alliance is going to form a government in the state.

While addressing a gathering in Tamil Nadu’s Tirunelveli, Shah launched a scathing attack on the ruling DMK and Congress, and accused them of prioritising dynastic politics over governance.

He said that the sole agenda of MK Stalin and Sonia Gandhi is to make their sons, Udhayanidhi Stalin and Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister and Prime Minister, respectively.

“Stalin’s only agenda is to only make his son Udhayanidhi the chief minister. Sonia Gandhi’s only intention is to make her son Rahul Gandhi the prime minister. I want to tell them both – this will not happen,” Shah said.

“Both will not fructify as the NDA will emerge victorious”, Shah asserted.

He further lashed out at CM Stalin over the opposition of the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill, saying that the latter does not have any right to dub the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill as black bill as he alleged the Tamil Nadu chief minister carried out “black deed.”

Shah alleged the DMK led the “most corrupt” government in the country and it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi who ran the government as per Tamil classical didactic book, Thirukkural’s guidance for an able, ideal ruler.

“…Modi ji has presented the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha. The entire opposition started protesting. What is the Constitution Bill? If any CM or Prime Minister goes to jail, they will have to resign from their post. The opposition is asking, What is the need for this bill?” he said as quoted by news agency ANI.

Citing the case against DMK leader and former Minister K Ponmudy and the recent one of V Senthil Balaji who continued as a minister when he was in jail in connection with an ED case, Shah asked if it was appropriate to be part of the Cabinet and govern despite being jailed.

“Senior DMK ministers K Ponmudy and Senthil Balaji were in jail for eight months. They did not resign. Tell me, can you run the government while being in jail? These DMK people call the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill a black bill. Stalin Babu, you have no right to call this bill a black bill because you are a Chief Minister who does black deeds…” Shah added.

BJP-AIADMK Alliance

After two years, the BJP and the AIADMK have formed an alliance again to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for next year.

The BJP and AIADMK contested together in the 2021 Tamil Nadu elections when Palaniswami was the Chief Minister. However, the NDA lost the elections to DMK and its alliance partners, only managing to win 75 seats out of 234 constituencies. The AIADMK won 66 seats, while the BJP managed only four seats.

The two parties went solo in the Lok Sabha and failed to win a single seat in Tamil Nadu. However, the BJP’s vote share in the state increased significantly under K Annamalai’s leadership.
