Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Monday gave a cryptic response to questions about his recent meetings with Congress high command leaders in Delhi, saying “time will answer everything”.

Shivakumar has been in the national capital for the past three to four days, where he met senior party leaders as part of preparatory discussions related to the Assam Assembly elections and the party’s planned protest over MNREGA issues.

Asked about the purpose of his meetings, Shivakumar declined to go into details. “Time will tell. If I have to answer in one sentence, time will answer everything,” he said.

Responding to media queries on speculation around his Delhi visit, the Deputy CM said there was nothing unusual about senior leaders meeting party leadership.

“Why should I disclose that? We come to Delhi for government work, party work and political work. We are politicians and all politicians do what is necessary in politics. There is nothing wrong with it,” Shivakumar said.

He added that meetings with party leaders are held as per mutual convenience and questioned the focus on his visit. “We would have sought appointments depending on our convenience and we would also meet as per our convenience. Why should you make it a big thing?” he asked.

Shivakumar’s remarks come amid heightened political interest in internal Congress deliberations ahead of upcoming elections and key organisational decisions.
