Rupali Ganguly reflected on her 25-year-journey in the industry and how family stood by her side like a rock.

TV actress Rupali Ganguly, who has achieved household fame with her powerful performance as Anupamaa, recently spoke about her journey in the industry. With more than two decades of working on TV, the actress talked about how the aspirations of her loved ones, her husband in particular, and her momma, shaped her journey.
Rupali entered television nearly 25 years ago with Sukanya. Although her debut comedic role as Monisha in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai brought her universal acclaim, Anupamaa brought her career full circle. The character turned out to be not only professionally rewarding but also emotionally satisfying.
Talking about her rapport with Anupamaa, Rupali has said, “It’s a personal odyssey that has been an emotional, purposeful, and grateful experience. But this dream was not mine to begin with. I did not see myself as a big actor or star in my dreams. My mother had imagined me to be someone big someday, and it was my husband (Ashwin K Verma) who had envisioned that I would get my rightful place as an actor.” And so when I stand on any platform, it is like living his dream for me. And that is what urges me to work harder.
Her statement is an indicator of the strong emotional connection she has with her family. She does not regard her present success as an achievement for herself but as the fulfilment of someone else’s dream for her.
Producer Rajan Shahi’s Belief Made Her Give Her All
Rupali also remembered the motivational words of Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi. She explained how his trust in her contributed to her enthusiasm.
“When I signed the contract for Anupamaa, Rajanji said, ‘Rupali, I want you to win all the awards.’ That kind of faith motivates you to give your best, and I did.”
That belief, she explained, became her push to take on the role. His trust inspired her to give it all to the performance, and she has been winning over hearts—and awards since then.
Working the Balance Between Fame and Domestic Life
In spite of her hectic work schedule, Rupali ensures that she balances her domestic life. She attributed her husband Ashwin for jumping in whenever necessary.
“Whenever I work, Ashwin takes care of our child. I sleep late and wake up at 5 am. Once you reach the point of standing before the camera and doing what you love, there is no room to feel exhausted. I wake up each morning feeling energetic enough to do quality work.”
Her schedule is not an easy one, yet her passion for the work and support of her family ensure that she remains strong. Tiredness never gets in the way of giving her best on camera.
