State: Maharashtra | Number of tourists welcomed in 2024: ~3.70 million | Maharashtra recorded the highest number of foreign tourist arrivals in India in 2024, driven by its strong mix of cultural, business and leisure travel. Mumbai’s global connectivity and iconic attractions such as the Gateway of India and Elephanta Caves continued to draw visitors.
