Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya on Saturday launched a sharp attack on her brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and those around him, saying she was driven out and now has no family.
While speaking to reporters at Patna Airport, Rohini claimed Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, and Rameez were responsible for throwing her out of the family. ” I have no family… Go ask Sanjay, Rameez, and Tejashwi. They are the ones who threw me out,” she said as quoted by news agency ANI.

While referring to RJD’s debacle in the Bihar Assembly election results, Rohini said that anyone who questions them about taking responsibility for the party’s defeat in the Bihar election would be treated the same way she has been, as they are unwilling to accept accountability.
She added that those attempting to operate like political strategists must be ready to face questions. “If someone tries to act like Chanakya, then the questions will be asked to that Chanakya, right?” she remarked.
She further alleged that merely taking the names of Sanjay and Rameez could provoke retaliation. “If Sanjay and Rameez’s names are mentioned, they will throw you out of the house, make people insult you, and even hit you with a slipper,” she claimed.
Her remarks came hours after she announced that she is quitting politics and disowning her family. In a cryptic social media post, she said, “I’m quitting politics and I’m disowning my family… This is what Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had asked me to do …nd I’m taking all the blame.”
In her post, she named two individuals, — Sanjay Yadav and Rameez — saying she is doing what they had asked her to, and took for everything.
According to political observers, Rohini’ post is being viewed as a pressure tactic after her brother, Tejashwi Yadav did not immediately act against RJD rebel Sanjay Yadav and Rameez.
As per sources, she was among the first to publicly object when Sanjay was seen occupying Tejashwi’s seat in the ‘rath’ during the Tejashwi Yatra. Many within the party believe she felt Sanjay was increasingly controlling the narrative around Tejashwi.
Rameez, meanwhile, is reportedly an old friend of Tejashwi Yadav and comes from a political family in the neighbouring Uttar Pradesh.
It was not clear from Acharya’s post what exactly Sanjay Yadav and Rameez had said to her.
Party sources said that so far there is no indication that Lalu Prasad or Rabri Devi have pressured Tejashwi to take action against Sanjay Yadav. Rohini’s announcement of “disowning the family” is being interpreted as an emotional move aimed at pressurising her parents to intervene in the internal feud.
A medical graduate who chose to become a homemaker after marriage and settle down with her husband and children in Singapore, Rohini earned immense respect after donating a kidney to her father and remains an influential voice in the RJD camp.
It was speculated that she was “unhappy” over the expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Prasad, from the party. However, during the assembly elections, she was seen campaigning for Tejashwi.
RJD’s Poll Debacle In Bihar
The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising two main constituents — BJP and JD(U) –decimated the Mahagathbandhan, an alliance of Congress, RJD and other parties, in Bihar on Friday to retain power.
With the final tally placing the NDA at 202 seats and the Opposition alliance reduced to just 34, the mandate stands out as one of the most emphatic the state has witnessed in more than a decade.
The RJD managed just 25 seats, the Congress collapsed to 6, and the Left parties together secured only 3. The BSP and IIP picked up one seat each.
