Defence Minister Rajnath Singh dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s repeated personal attacks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the people of India know such allegations do not stick to him.
Speaking exclusively to Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Singh said, “Such remarks are not proper. The country knows that such allegations do not stick to PM Modi. He always speaks to the public in a direct and straightforward manner. He has never tried to mislead the people.”

His comments came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s recent statements during election rallies, where the Congress MP accused PM Modi of being desperate for votes and mocked his Chhath puja by claiming he prayed in a “sanitised pond” instead of taking a dip in the Yamuna.
During the interview, Singh also addressed the question of leadership in Bihar, making it clear that the Assembly elections were being fought under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“The election is being held under his leadership. So, it is natural that he will be the chief minister,” Singh said.
Asked about the possibility of two deputy chief ministers from the BJP and Chirag Paswan’s party, the Defence Minister said such decisions would be made collectively after the election.
“Whatever happens in future will be decided by consensus when everyone sits together and decides what is to be done,” he added.
