As the internet continues to debate Too Much With Kajol & Twinkle, a throwback clip of Alia Bhatt has reignited conversations about infidelity and modern relationships. Twinkle Khanna and Kajol recently shocked audiences when they downplayed physical infidelity as a deal breaker on their celebrity talk show. The duo’s remarks sparked massive backlash, and now, Alia’s old confession from Koffee With Karan has resurfaced online, adding new fuel to the discussion.
During the chat show, host Karan Johar asked Alia what would qualify as a deal breaker for her in a relationship. Without hesitation, Alia replied, “Emotional infidelity.”
Reddit Questions Alia’s Perspective
Soon after the clip began circulating, Reddit users jumped into the conversation, questioning whether Alia’s response implied she would be more accepting of physical infidelity. One user wrote, “I wasn’t even aware of the distinction between emotional and physical infidelity, had it not been for KWK. Middle-class morality says cheating means Dhum tananana (Zooming in on everyone’s shocked faces!).”
Another quipped, “So physical one is fine! Wow. I feel sad because how we as a society have accepted cheating as normal.”
The debate mirrors the reactions Twinkle Khanna and Kajol faced earlier this week, when they suggested that physical infidelity might not necessarily end a relationship.
Alia’s Past Comments on Infidelity Resurface
Adding more context, an old 2019 interview of Alia Bhatt has also gone viral. While promoting Kalank, the actress reflected on her parents’ marriage and her father Mahesh Bhatt’s extramarital affair that led him to meet her mother, Soni Razdan.
In a conversation with The Asian Age, Alia said, “My father met my mother because he had an extramarital affair. I am not as black and white about life; sometimes things happen for a reason. Of course, you would not want to propagate infidelity and I don’t propagate it, but I understand the nature of human, it’s not always that easy.”
Despite the renewed attention on her remarks, Alia remains happily married to Ranbir Kapoor. The couple tied the knot in 2022 and are proud parents to their daughter, Raha Kapoor.
