The Tamil Nadu government has dismissed reports claiming that it is planning to introduce a new resolution or bill related to the use of the Hindi language in the state. Earlier, several reports suggested that Chief Minister MK Stalin would move a resolution in the Assembly concerning Hindi usage ahead of next year’s elections.

However, the government has now categorically denied the claim, calling it false. The Tamil Nadu Fact Check account also issued a clarification, stating: “A rumour is spreading that a bill to ban the Hindi language will be introduced in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly session! This is entirely a rumour. No such proposal for any bill has been received. Do not spread rumours!

The Tamil Nadu government has dismissed reports claiming that it plans to introduce a bill banning the use of Hindi in hoardings, films, songs, or other media across the state. The clarification came after several outlets reported that the DMK-led government was preparing such a proposal.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minsiter M K Stalin stated that DMK does not oppose Hindi unless it is imposed on Tamil Nadu. He said that forcing the language on Tamils is equivalent to playing with their pride.

Chief Minister Stalin also opposed efforts to impose Hindi and Sanskrit under the guise of the three-language formula. He emphasized that the state’s bilingual policy (Tamil and English) has effectively contributed to school education, higher education, skill development, and job creation. He accused BJP of betraying the southern state and vowed to protect the language and people at any cost.

Earlier, DMK had several times accused the BJP-led NDA government at the Center of trying to impose Hindi through the three-language formula in the national education policy, but the central government denied these allegations.
