Daboo Malik recalls how Salman and Sohail Khan supported him during his toughest times.

Veteran composer Daboo Malik, father of popular musicians Amaal Mallik and Armaan Malik, recently shared an emotional account of the challenges he faced in the music industry. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, he revealed how personal struggles left him feeling paralyzed and helpless, and how the Khan family became a pillar of strength during that time.

He recalled, “Jab mujhe aisa laga ki main bol nahi pa raha hoon, meri zubaan, mere facial expressions paralyse hogaye the internet stress. Literally, not medically agar kisi se kuch maangna chahun ki kuch chahiye toh mere andar ka jo self-respect rha vo kaise jata bolne ke liye ki mujhe kuch chahiye ki main apne bachon ko bacha nahi pa raha hoon, that was like a diabolical situation ki Aisa kaise ho sakta hain and then luckily Sohail Khan came in my life and Salim Uncle came in my life and Salman Bhai came in my life that brought the biggest change.” (Translation: “When I felt like I couldn’t even speak, my tongue and facial expressions felt paralyzed with internal stress. Not medically, but emotionally, my self-respect stopped me from asking anyone for help, even when I couldn’t protect my children. It was a diabolical situation, but then Sohail Khan, Salim uncle, and Salman bhai came into my life and brought the biggest change.”)

Sohail Khan’s Unwavering Support

Daboo spoke at length about Sohail Khan’s role during his lowest phase. “Jo pyaar aur jo care Sohail Khan as a person jo usne mujhe samhala emotionally, physically, and financially in the sense ki har ek cheez ke liye guide kiya and ek hi line mujhe boli ki agar zindagi mein kuch Kami padegi na aur kuch nahi hoga toh main tumhare sath hoon baki itni shamta hai tum mein ki tum kuch na kuch karloge and vaisa hi hua.” (Translation: “The love and care Sohail Khan gave me—he supported me emotionally, physically, and financially. He guided me through everything and told me one line: ‘If you ever face a shortfall in life, don’t worry, I am with you. You have the capability to make things happen.’ And that’s exactly what happened.”)
