RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav’s estranged son Tej Pratap Yadav visited his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav’s assembly constituency of Raghopur in Vaishali district to distribute relief materials among villagers severely affected by floods.

Reaching the Diara area of Raghopur by boat, Tej Pratap distributed dry ration, medicines, and essential items among the victims. He also got motorboat laden with relief materials such as wheat flour, chura, biscuits, clothes, and medicines. He also brought a team of doctors who conducted health checks on residents trapped by the floodwaters. Tej Pratap deployed five additional boats to assist those in distress.

Tejashwi, by contrast, was seen on camera visiting his constituency and only inquiring about the well-being of the people on Monday.

Taking a jibe at the Nitish Kumar government, Tej Pratap said that the people here are suffering from floods and are crying for help, but no concrete steps have been taken.

“Most panchayats and villages in this assembly constituency have been submerged due to floods, but no assistance of any kind is being provided by the BJP Nitish government, nor by the MP and MLA of this area,” he said in a post on X.

“When the local people of the Raghoopur area informed me about their problems, I could not hold back, and today we ourselves went and met the flood-affected families and provided them with relief materials and medical assistance,” he added.

Subtly targeting his younger brother, Tej Partap also advised the local Raghopur legislator to meet the flood victims and understand their pain and suffering after coming out of home and family.

The political tussle between RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s two sons — leader of opposition in the Bihar assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and former minister Tej Pratap is getting intense ahead of the assembly elections.

Recently, Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his eldest son from the party and family for six years after a social media post went viral.

The post, containing a photograph of a woman named Anushka Yadav, claimed that Tej Pratap had been in a relationship with her for the past 12 years.

The post created uproar in Bihar’s political circles, giving ammunition to rivals and deepening divisions within the RJD.

Tej Pratap later denied making the post, claiming that his Facebook account had been hacked and accusing his detractors of uploading the controversial content as part of a larger conspiracy.

After his expulsion from the RJD and distancing from Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family, former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has launched a new political platform under the banner of ‘Team Tej Pratap Yadav’.

In the run-up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Tej Pratap has intensified his campaigning across the state, repeatedly targeting his opponents with the phrase ‘Jaychand (traitor)’.

On August 19, he announced the formation of a coalition of five minor parties to contest the elections later this year. He made the announcement at a press conference in Patna, which was also attended by national presidents of the five parties – Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janta Party (PJP), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP) and Sanyukt Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP).
