iOS 26 release date has been confirmed at the iPhone 17 launch event
iPhone 17 series unveiling comes with one of the biggest upgrades for Apple. The iOS 26 version is a big naming switch from iOS 18 that powered the iPhone 16 series last year. Now, we have a release date for the iOS 26 update that will be coming to a wide range of iPhone models, and some of the newer ones with the shiny AI tools.
We have been getting the iOS 26 developer and public beta versions in the last few weeks and with the new iPhone 17 ready to be shipped from next week, Apple is gearing up for the last minute fixes for the iOS 26 release.

iOS 26 version is coming out as a free update on Monday, September 15, 2025. Apple usually rolls out the new iOS update in the morning which comes to late evening for iPhone users in India and we expect a similar plan for the iOS 26 release as well.

As you can see from the list here, Apple will offer the new iOS 26 update for iPhone models starting from 11 going up to the latest available 16 Pro Max variant. The list also confirms that iPhone X, Xs and Xr versions will no longer get iOS updates from the company and these users should now upgrade to any of the models mentioned above.
It is intriguing to see the iPhone SE 2nd gen model included in the support list but if you want the latest Apple AI features, you will need to have the iPhone 15 Pro or newer models.
iOS 26 Features Coming To iPhones
The new iOS 26 update gets the Liquid Glass design which has become a lot better in the last few beta versions. The new interface brings glass-like intuitive swipe and scrolling across apps and different tabs.
The apps also get the glass-like effect with the text more pronounced. In terms of the features, iOS 26 brings a new adaptive battery saving tool which uses AI to read your usage. The apps now launch faster, while the camera gets new tweaks.
There is a new video that explains the iOS 26 Liquid Glass design changes which probably makes sense. The company has removed the toggle button to activate the classic mode for the camera.

- Go to General – Software update
- Check for the new iOS 26 update for your device
- Authenticate using your six-digit passcode
- Reboot your iPhone and get the iOS 26 full version installed
