Finland offers free trip to 16 singles for a dinner date to find love: Here’s how to apply

What if your next holiday came with a chance of finding love? Finland is turning this idea into reality by inviting 16 singles from around the world for an all-expenses-paid trip next year. The experience will bring together international travellers and local singles over traditional Finnish food, cultural activities and group dinners.

The initiative, launched by the country’s tourism organisation, Visit Finland, is called the Finnish Dinner Date and will take place in February 2027. The campaign invites singles to experience Finnish cuisine and local traditions on a four-day trip, with flights, accommodation, meals and activities covered by the organisers.

What Is The Finnish Dinner Date?

The 16 selected participants will be split into two groups of eight, with one travelling to Helsinki and the other to Tampere, located in Finland’s Lakeland region.

Each group will join two local Finnish singles for a dinner date, giving visitors an opportunity to meet new people. The trips are scheduled between February 9 and 19, 2027, with participants informed of their destinations after selection.

The campaign takes inspiration from a Finnish dating trend known as sinkkukori, meaning “single basket”. Under this concept, shoppers use pink baskets in supermarkets to indicate that they are single and open to meeting someone.

A Chance To Explore Finnish Food And Culture

The initiative also aims to introduce international visitors to Finland’s food traditions.

Earlier this year, Visit Finland invited people across the country to suggest dishes that best represent their regions. Leading chefs then used these suggestions to create four official tasting menus.

Two menus have already been presented to international visitors, while the remaining two will be served during the upcoming dinner dates. Along with the dining experiences, participants will take part in cultural activities and explore local traditions and landscapes.

Who Can Apply?

The programme is open to single adults aged 18 and above from anywhere in the world, except residents of Finland. Applications must be submitted individually.

Interested travellers must complete the application process by November 10, 2026, at 11:59 am Finnish time.

How To Apply For The Free Finland Trip

Applicants must record a short video in English answering the question: “What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?” They must post the video on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube using the hashtag #FinnishDinnerDate and tag Visit Finland’s official account on the respective platform.

Those posting on Instagram or TikTok must keep their profiles public so the organisers can view their entries. YouTube videos can be set to either Public or Unlisted. After posting the video, applicants must complete the online application form on Visit Finland’s website and include the link to their social media entry.

Visit Finland will contact selected applicants individually, with the names of the 16 winners publicly announced on December 1 through its Instagram and TikTok channels.
