Air India to launch direct Delhi-Osaka flights from February 2027, bookings open

Travelling from India to Japan is set to become easier, with Air India preparing to start non-stop flights between Delhi and Osaka from February 2. This new service will give Indian travellers a direct way to reach the Japanese city without changing flights along the way.

The new route will also make it easier for travellers to plan holidays covering more than one Japanese city. For example, tourists can fly into Tokyo and return from Osaka or follow the opposite route from Mumbai and Delhi. There is more good news for those already planning their trip, as bookings for the new flights have already opened.

With this move, Osaka will become the airline’s second destination in Japan after Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. At present, the Air India has daily flights from Delhi to Tokyo and four flights per week from Mumbai. The new route will use a Boeing 787-8 aircraft, which will have 18 Business Class seats that can turn into flat beds and 241 Economy Class seats.

Air India will run four flights every week between the two major cities. As per the schedule, the Delhi-Osaka flight, AI360, will leave India’s capital at 10:50 pm and reach the Japanese city at 9:50 am. The return flight, AI359, will depart Osaka at 11:50 am and arrive in Delhi at 6:20 pm.

The Delhi to Osaka service will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, while flights from Osaka to Delhi will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

According to the Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO), 19,500 Indians visited Japan in August 2026, compared with 18,620 in August 2025.

The rise was even bigger when looking at the first eight months of the year.

From January to August 2026, the Asian country welcomed 250,100 Indian visitors, which is more than 208,043 during the same period in 2025. More Indians are choosing Japan for its beautiful sights, rich culture and food.
