Some early trains to New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin cancelled for Oct 10 due to CJP protests: Report

The Indian Railways has cancelled multiple New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin-bound trains on October 10. The authorities cited heavy traffic congestion in the areas surrounding the stations in the national capital as the reason for cancellations.

According to a railway order issued on October 9, trains leaving their originating stations after 2 pm on Friday and due to arrive at New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday will be cancelled from their departure stations, The Times Of India reported.

Passengers travelling to New Delhi or Hazrat Nizamuddin on October 10 have been advised to check their train status and cancellation updates before leaving for the station.

This comes a day before the proposed October 10 protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi. Railway officials have not confirmed whether the cancellations are linked to the demonstration.

Delhi Police warns against proposed protest

The Delhi Police has cautioned against the proposed CJP protest on October 10, stating that Section 163 remains in force in the national capital. According to ANI, the police said any unauthorised gathering would be considered illegal.

DCP Shrishti Pandey said the restrictions prohibit protests at Jantar Mantar and all other locations in the national capital. She added that legal action will be taken against those participating in unauthorised gatherings.

“Section 163 is in effect, meaning protests are not permitted—neither at Jantar Mantar nor anywhere else. Any gathering will be considered illegal, and we would be compelled to take necessary legal action against it,” she said.

Pandey appealed to people to stay away from the proposed demonstration and urged them to prioritise their safety and the well-being of their families. “I would like to urge the protestors not to participate in such illegal gatherings. Please prioritise your own safety as well. Also, consider the safety of your family,” she added.
