Customers become eligible for Elite after making two bookings on Cleartrip within 12 months. There is no membership fee or tier structure, the company said.
The programme offers a minimum 20% discount on the first three eligible hotel bookings and a ₹5,000 voucher on holiday packages. Members can also earn up to 100 SuperCoins cashback on eligible flight and hotel bookings and get priority 24×7 customer support.
The ₹9 flight date-change option is available as a separate flexibility product for eligible bookings.
Manjari Singhal, Chief Growth and Business Officer, Cleartrip, said similar flexibility products in the market typically cost around ₹400-500, while airline rescheduling charges can be higher.
Cleartrip said the flexibility product has seen an attach rate of around 40% since its launch.
Targeting regular travellers
The programme is primarily aimed at customers who travel around three to five times a year, rather than only frequent flyers, Singhal said.
According to her, uncertainty around travel plans can lead customers to delay bookings, particularly when changing a flight can involve significant charges. The company expects the flexibility benefit to encourage customers to book earlier.Cleartrip also expects the hotel discount to help address another trade-off faced by travellers as airfares rise, Singhal said.
The company said Flipkart Gold and Myntra Insider members will get Elite benefits without having to complete the two-booking eligibility requirement.
Cleartrip said it expects the programme to support customer retention and also help it acquire users from the broader Flipkart group ecosystem.
Singhal said Cleartrip eventually plans to expand the programme beyond conventional loyalty rewards, with greater personalisation based on customers’ travel behaviour and preferences. She said artificial intelligence could be used to provide more tailored recommendations and support before, during and after trips.
