The new service expands Uber’s intercity travel offerings in India and combines ixigo’s train-ticketing technology with Uber’s mobility services. The partnership aims to make train journeys more convenient by connecting travel to and from the railway station with train ticket booking through a single app.
How to book train tickets on Uber
Users can book train tickets through the Uber app by following these steps:
- Open the Uber app.
- Select ‘Bus & Train’ from the home screen or the Services section, then choose train tickets.
- Enter the origin, destination and travel date.
- Browse the available trains and select the preferred option.
- Complete the ticket booking within the app.
- Access ticket details and check the PNR status directly through Uber.
Uber expands intercity travel options
The launch comes as Uber continues to expand its range of travel services in India. Its offerings now include moto, auto, cars, metro, intercity cars, intercity buses and train ticket booking.
Uber said the partnership builds on its existing presence at railway stations across India, where it provides pickup and drop-off services. With train bookings now available through the app, the company is extending its railway travel offering beyond station connectivity.
According to the companies, Indian Railways carried 741 crore passengers in FY2025-26, highlighting the scale of train travel in the country. The partnership with ixigo is intended to bring ticket booking and station connectivity together within the Uber app.
Uber, ixigo highlight seamless travel experience
Arnab Kumar, Director of Business Development at Uber India and South Asia, said the new feature will allow riders to book train tickets, check PNR status and arrange travel to and from railway stations within the Uber app.
“We’re pleased to partner with ixigo to bring together their expertise in train ticketing with Uber’s mobility platform, making the overall travel experience more seamless and convenient for riders,” he said.ixigo Group CEO Aloke Bajpai and Group Co-CEO Rajnish Kumar said the partnership will extend the travel experience beyond train ticket booking. According to Bajpai, it will allow passengers to plan their journey from their doorstep to their final destination while benefiting from ixigo’s ticketing and post-booking services.
