According to the company, this expansion is aimed at increasing access to affordable mobility in smaller cities while creating flexible earning opportunities for local drivers.
Uber Bike is part of the company’s wider multimodal mobility platform in India, and its services include Bike and Auto, along with cars, airport rides and Intercity, as well as public transport integrations.
Uber will initially launch Bike services across the new cities, from Jammu in the north to Tirunelveli in the south, Silchar in the east and Jamnagar in the west. The service will cater to everyday journeys, including short-distance travel and first- and last-mile connectivity.
The expansion comes around India’s Independence Day. As part of its celebrations, first-time riders across the country can get their first Uber ride free for a limited period.
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said the expansion would improve mobility in smaller cities and create livelihood opportunities.
“India’s growing road network is connecting smaller cities and unlocking new economic opportunities. I congratulate Uber on expanding to 100 more cities, bringing affordable mobility to more Indians while creating livelihood opportunities for thousands of people.”
Gadkari also urged states to adopt the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines 2025, which provide a framework for bike taxis and other mobility solutions. He said the guidelines could support affordable first- and last-mile connectivity and livelihood creation. He also highlighted Uber’s partnership with the Sadak Suraksha Abhiyaan and the need to link mobility growth with safer roads

Uber said Bike is suited to smaller cities as it offers an affordable option for everyday travel, while giving local drivers flexible earning opportunities using an asset many already own.
