Special Trains
Northern Railway will extend and operate more trains to handle pilgrim traffic to Haridwar and Rishikesh. The Delhi-Saharanpur MEMU will run till Haridwar from July 30 to August 14. Starting from Delhi at 4:15 pm, it will reach Saharanpur at 8:50 pm, halt for 20 minutes, and arrive in Haridwar at 10:50 pm. On return, it will depart Haridwar at 2 am and reach Delhi by 8:45 am.
Shamli DEMU Extended, Special Mela Trains
The Delhi-Shamli DEMU will be extended to Haridwar from July 30 to August 14, running via Shamli, Thana Bhawan, Rampur Maniharan and Tapri. The return service will travel from Haridwar via Jwalapur, Roorkee, Tapri, Rampur Maniharan and Shamli.
Railways will also run two fair specials: Haridwar–Delhi Shahdara from July 30 to August 13 and Yoganagari Rishikesh–Delhi Shahdara from July 30 to August 14. The trains are meant to ease travel for Kanwar pilgrims.
Haryana Roadways Prepares For Pilgrim Surge
Haridwar-bound traffic is normal for now, with two Haryana Roadways buses operating daily from Ballabhgarh. The first bus leaves at 5:30 am and the second at 8 pm. Return trips are at 11:30 am the same day and 7:30 am the next day from Haridwar. The fare continues to be ₹385 per passenger. More services will be introduced once passenger numbers go up during peak Kanwar days.
Heavy Vehicles Banned In Ghaziabad Till Aug 12
Ghaziabad Police have announced traffic restrictions for the Kanwar season. From July 29 to August 12, trucks, DCMs, tractor-trolleys and other heavy vehicles will not be allowed into the city. Vehicles from Delhi, Baghpat, Hapur and Bulandshahr will be rerouted through Eastern Peripheral Expressway, NH-09 and Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. The ban will also apply on Ganga Canal Track, Kanwar Marg, Pipeline Marg, NH-34 and Delhi-Meerut Expressway.
Vehicle Restrictions Imposed Near Dudheshwarnath Temple
Two-wheelers and light vehicles will not be allowed near Dudheshwarnath Temple from Chaudhary Mod, Railway Road Cut, Bajariya, Hapur Tiraha and Gaushala Gate due to expected heavy footfall. Green corridors will also be created for smooth passage of ambulances and fire services.
Delhi–Haridwar Highway To Be Closed For All Vehicles From Aug 4
According to reports, heavy vehicle restrictions on Delhi-Haridwar NH and Ganga Canal Road will begin July 30. A complete ban for all vehicles will be in place from August 4 to August 12 for Kanwar safety. One section of the highway will be reserved only for pilgrims.
Delhi-Meerut Expressway To Shut From Aug 7 To 12
The UP part of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will be closed to traffic from August 7 until Shivratri on August 12 for the Kanwar Yatra.
Travellers from Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad heading to Meerut, Haridwar or Muzaffarnagar should use other routes.
Month-Long Traffic Curbs In Mirzapur For Sawan
From July 31 to August 28, Mirzapur will restrict heavy vehicles except those with essentials such as milk, fuel and school supplies. Diversions are in effect at 9 key points, including Robertsganj Tiraha, Madihan, Bharuhana Chowki and Shastri Bridge, to help Kanwariyas move easily.
