The policy applies to Vande Bharat Express services and may bring relief to passengers affected by delays. Apart from this, Indian Railways has several other rules and facilities that passengers often overlook.
If you are planning a train trip soon, these important railway rules are worth knowing, as they could save time and reduce stress.
Free Food Policy
Passengers travelling on Vande Bharat Express trains receive a free meal if their train is delayed by two or more hours. According to a new IRCTC facility, travellers who select the meal option while booking their tickets will be provided complimentary food, such as rice, dal and pickle.
The rule applies to trains passing through stations such as Muzaffarpur, Bapudham Motihari, Hajipur, Samastipur, Salauna, Hasanpur Road and Saharsa.
Who Can Board
Vande Bharat follows a strict ticketing policy to keep travel comfortable and organised for passengers. Only travellers with confirmed tickets are allowed to board the train. Passengers holding RAC or waitlisted tickets are not permitted to travel on the service.
Catering Services
Vande Bharat trains offer passengers a chance to enjoy regional food during their journey. After boarding, travellers are provided with a bottle of packaged drinking water and a daily newspaper. Depending on the length of the trip, fresh meals are also served, which helps passengers travel comfortably while enjoying food suited on the route.
Other Facilities
Vande Bharat trains also come with several modern facilities to make travel more comfortable. Passengers can access onboard WiFi, use individual reading lights and charge their devices through charging outlets available at their seats. The seats also have tables, making it easier to eat meals, work or use laptops during the journey.
