The company said the new version of its app integrates AI across the travel journey, allowing users to plan and book flights and hotels through voice, text, or tap-based inputs instead of conventional search filters and multi-screen navigation.
At the centre of the updated platform is an AI assistant called TARA, which the company said has been redesigned as a multimodal interface capable of handling travel queries, generating recommendations, and supporting booking-related actions within the app. It supports English, Hindi and Hinglish, with additional languages expected later.
The assistant can respond to structured and unstructured requests, including multi-city itineraries and specific accommodation preferences. The company said it can also generate personalised recommendations based on user history and context within the app.
ixigo said the assistant is also capable of providing proactive updates related to travel, including flight status, schedule changes, weather information, and airport-related details such as terminals and gate updates.
The platform has also introduced a feature called Trip Mode, which consolidates post-booking travel information such as boarding passes, gate details, baggage updates and real-time alerts into a single interface. The company said the feature also provides contextual travel assistance, including suggestions on departure timing based on traffic conditions.
Another addition, described by the company as agentic travel flows, allows automated systems to perform certain travel-related tasks in the background. These include sending boarding passes to users, integrating them with digital wallets, and sharing them with government-backed digital identity systems where applicable.
The company said its systems can also monitor flight schedules, issue delay or cancellation alerts, and assist with refund-related processes. Some of these features are opt-in, it added.
The app also includes a redesigned homepage with personalised content based on user behaviour and travel history, along with a refreshed interface design including a dark mode option.
