Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey appealed to pilgrims and tourists to closely monitor weather updates before beginning their journey, as per news agency ANI.
He cautioned that the mountainous regions could witness adverse conditions over the next two days and urged travellers to prioritise safety.
“Pilgrims should obtain the latest weather updates and plan their journey with full caution,” Pandey said in a statement quoted by ANI.
The commissioner further advised devotees to consider postponing travel until conditions improve, saying that travelling after the weather stabilises would be safer and more convenient. He also asked pilgrims to strictly follow instructions issued by district authorities and local administrations during the yatra.

The IMD’s Char Dham sector nowcast indicated light rainfall and thunderstorms along several pilgrimage routes, including Rishikesh to Rudraprayag, Rudraprayag to Kedarnath, Joshimath to Badrinath, Uttarkashi to Gangotri, and Barkot to Yamunotri.
The weather agency predicted light rain measuring below 5 mm per hour along with thunderstorms and gusty winds of less than 40 kmph in multiple stretches of the yatra route between 9 am and 12 noon on May 11.
Meanwhile, routes such as Haridwar to Rishikesh, Rishikesh to Tehri, Tehri to Uttarkashi, and Mussoorie to Haridwar remained under “no warning” status during the same period.
Officials said the state administration has directed all departments associated with the pilgrimage to maintain preparedness and ensure adequate safety arrangements for devotees.
The annual Char Dham Yatra, which began last month, attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year to Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
