How Mumbai Metro commuters can now turn online shopping into travel savings

Commuters on Mumbai Metro Line 1 can now reduce their daily travel costs by turning routine online shopping into commuter savings, following the launch of a new app-based rewards feature by Mumbai Metro One.

Under the system, users earn cashback on purchases made through popular e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and Ajio.

The benefit is capped at up to ₹20 per transaction, with the cashback credited instantly and available for direct transfer to the commuter’s bank account.
The feature, called “RapidCash”, has been developed in partnership with RapidCash, Acetech Digital and SequelString AI Pvt Ltd. It is designed to link everyday digital spending with urban mobility, allowing commuters to offset a portion of their travel expenses without changing their shopping habits.
According to Mumbai Metro One, the idea is to improve affordability for regular passengers by integrating commerce and transport within a single digital ecosystem. The operator said the model allows users to continue using existing discounts on shopping platforms while also earning additional travel-linked benefits, according to a Times of India report.

Officials described the initiative as a first-of-its-kind offering within India’s metro ecosystem. They added that it builds on earlier commuter-focused features introduced over the years, including WhatsApp ticketing, QR-based mobile tickets, Metro Rewards and unlimited travel passes, the report said.

Mumbai Metro One, promoted by Reliance Infrastructure, said it has served over 120 crore commuters so far and continues to maintain over 99% punctuality.

The RapidCash feature is now available through its mobile app on Android and iOS.
