Yatra dates announced
The 57-day pilgrimage to the holy Amarnath cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled to commence on July 3 and conclude on August 28, coinciding with the festival of Raksha Bandhan. The yatra, dedicated to Lord Shiva, attracts lakhs of devotees every year from across the country and abroad.
Online and offline registration facilities
Pilgrims can register through the official website of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) or visit authorised branches of banks. The process has been streamlined this year to reduce waiting time and improve convenience.
According to SASB, each designated bank branch has been assigned a fixed daily quota for each route and must ensure that registrations do not exceed the allotted limit for the
Amarnath Yatra 2026.
Safety measures and eligibility criteria
Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha, who also chairs the shrine board, announced that pilgrims must be between 13 and 70 years of age to participate. He added that several new measures have been introduced to enhance safety, including mandatory RFID cards, expanded insurance cover up to ₹10 lakh, and improved infrastructure, such as wider tracks and better connectivity.
“With better facilities, real-time monitoring, improved sanitation, and enhanced connectivity, the yatra experience has significantly improved. Devotees are more satisfied with the arrangements compared to previous years,” LG Sinha was quoted as saying by ANI.
Registration process
According to guidelines issued by the shrine board, devotees must first obtain a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) from authorised medical institutions. Applicants are then required to fill out the registration form, select their preferred route and travel date, and submit valid identification proof. A yatra permit will be issued upon successful registration, which is mandatory for undertaking the pilgrimage.
“Advance registration is available at 554 bank branches. Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank have various branches across the country where this registration will be conducted. Online registration can also be done through the official website of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board,” he added.
