WhatsApp is bringing new features for the holiday season and some new AI additions to help you generate images.
WhatsApp gets new AI, call and chat features
WhatsApp is bringing not just one but multiple new features across different settings, including Meta AI for users this week. The platform has been rigorously working on new features in the beta mode for a while and now some of them are going to be available for a wider audience with the full rollout coming this holiday season.
The list is quite a long one, and you have new options available for calls, chats and updates.
WhatsApp New Features Rolling Out
WhatsApp Voicemail
The first big addition is missed call messages. We’ve seen this being tested earlier and now you have the regular call feature built into the messaging app as well. So, next time you call someone and if they don’t answer, you can record a voice or video note with a single tap and allow them to listen/see it later. This is the new-gen version of voicemail.
Reactions come to voice chats
Voice chats now get support for reactions. You can share a quick emoji from the list without needing to pause the conversation.
Video call spotlight: Group video calls will soon have the main speaker on the spotlight so that others can easily track their conversation.
More Meta AI upgrades
Meta AI in WhatsApp now gets Midjourney and Flux support to help you generate creative cards, wishing people for the holidays. The AI model is also able to make a short video of any photo with the right prompt.
The desktop WhatsApp version gets a new media tap where you can search for documents, links, and media across chats on Mac, web and the desktop.
That’s not all, there are a few more changes coming for link previews, and sticker packs among others. All these new features will be rolling out gradually for all users over the next few weeks so you might not see them available for your device immediately.
