In today’s time, when box office numbers often overshadow content, actors are celebrated more for the number of hits they deliver than for their talent.

There is one actor who once delivered 33 consecutive flops and still went on to become one of the biggest stars of the industry?

We’re talking about Mithun Chakraborty. Born in Kolkata in 1950, the actor carved a niche for himself in Indian cinema, starring in multiple hits and working with actresses like Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit.

During the 1990s, Mithun faced a tough phase in his career, delivering 33 box office failures in a row.

Over his decades-long career, he has featured in around 370 films, with nearly 180 box office flops yet his name continues to command respect in the industry.

Mithun began his acting journey with Mrigayaa (1976) and his performance in the film earned him the National Award for Best Actor.

He even made it to the Limca Book of Records (1989) for playing lead roles in 19 films in a single year.

Despite several setbacks, Mithun delivered some of Bollywood’s biggest hits, including the global blockbuster Disco Dancer, which made him an international sensation.

Some of his other notable films include Prem Pratigyaa, Boxer, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Golmaal 3, OMG: Oh My God and The Kashmir Files.

He was last seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s period drama The Bengal Files, co-starring Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar.

Up next, Mithun Chakraborty is all set to play a negative role in Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated action drama, Jailer 2 and fans can’t wait.
