A casual visit from Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan to Mumbai’s Film City this week set social media buzzing with speculation. Photos shared by filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia showing Bachchan on the sets of Battle of Galwan instantly led many to believe that the megastar might be making a cameo in the upcoming Salman Khan-starrer.

Lakhia had posted a few behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram Stories, captioned, “Guess what he is telling me? #legendonsetstoday.” The cryptic tone of the caption only added fuel to the frenzy, with fans and gossip pages alike wondering if the Sholay icon had joined the cast.

However, the filmmaker has now clarified that Bachchan’s presence had nothing to do with the movie. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Lakhia explained, “No, he was shooting for a commercial in the opposite studio, so I went to meet him and said hello.”

A Longstanding Creative Bond

Apoorva Lakhia and Amitabh Bachchan share a professional history that goes back two decades. The two previously worked together on Ek Ajnabee (2005) and Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost (2003). Given their creative rapport, it’s unsurprising that Lakhia took the opportunity to reconnect when he realized Bachchan was filming nearby.

Yet, the filmmaker emphasized that the interaction was purely personal, quashing rumours of any on-screen reunion between the two. “It was just a warm, friendly meeting. Nothing to do with Battle of Galwan,” he added.

Chitrangada Singh Joins the Cast

While Amitabh Bachchan may not be part of the project, the film continues to grow in scale and scope. Sources close to the production reveal that actor Chitrangada Singh has come on board for Battle of Galwan’s second shooting schedule in Mumbai.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film draws inspiration from the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Salman Khan headlines the project as an Indian Army officer, and the film promises to combine large-scale action with emotional resonance, portraying courage, sacrifice, and national pride.

With the confirmation that Amitabh Bachchan’s visit was merely coincidental, fans can now focus on what’s shaping up to be one of Salman Khan’s most intense and patriotic roles yet.
