Central agencies are fearing an attempt on Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, sources told CNN-News18, after his recent interaction with Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh at an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati sparked a wave of threats from Khalistani outfits.

Some threats to Bachchan are under assessment by central agencies, who say that they are in connection with his recent meeting with Dosanjh, according to these sources.

Dosanjh reportedly received a threat from the Khalistani organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) after he was seen touching Bachchan’s feet. SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun warned that the group would attempt to shut down Dosanjh’s concert scheduled in Australia on November 1.

Dosanjh’s respectful gesture act drew sharp criticism from the separatist organisation, which accused the actor-singer of dishonouring the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The SFJ alleged that Bachchan had played a role in inciting violence during the 1984 riots following former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

The outfit claimed that Bachchan had allegedly used the slogan “Khoon Ka Badla Khoon (Blood for Blood)” during the riots, which they said “unleashed violence in which over 30,000 Sikh men, women, and children were killed across India.”

Threat To Diljit Dosanjh’s Melbourne Show

CNN-News18 had earlier reported that Melbourne police and intelligence agencies on Wednesday raised concerns over threat to Diljit Dosanjh’s Aura 2025 concert scheduled for November 1. Intelligence reports suggested that the group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) is seeking to target the high-profile event.

Australian police sources told CNN-News18 that the recent calls for shutdown rallies and a direct video message from SFJ leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun have elevated the Melbourne threat to Level 2, defined as moderate to high.

SFJ has also been promoting hashtags like #BoycottDiljit and #PanthicJustice on X and Instagram, using coordinated bot activity and diaspora influencers to amplify emotionally charged visuals related to the 1984 riots. Sources called this as a calibrated influence operation rather than spontaneous outrage.
