At his concert in San Francisco on 27 October, 20-year-old singer Sombr tried to add humour to his popular “Call Your Ex” segment. Asking fans to stay quiet, he decided to prank-call pop star Selena Gomez live on stage.
The crowd cheered as he dialled, expecting laughter and playful banter. But instead of Gomez, the call connected to her husband, Grammy-winning producer Benny Blanco.
A video from the show shared on social media captures the moment Sombr hesitated when a deep voice answered, asking, “Who’s this?” The singer replied nervously, “Is this Benny Blanco? I was trying to call your wife.”
The light-hearted tone vanished as the audience realised the mix-up wasn’t scripted. Sombr quickly apologised and ended the call, leaving fans in awkward silence.
Benny Blanco’s Reaction Changes The Vibe
Clips from the night show that Blanco wasn’t amused. Despite Sombr’s attempts to explain that it was just a joke for the crowd, Blanco kept his tone cool and brief before hanging up.
According to TMZ, the mood in the venue shifted instantly, turning the funny segment into an uncomfortable pause. Fans later shared clips online, calling it “painfully awkward” and “a prank gone too far”.

The call was made only several weeks after Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco got married on 27 September 2025. Their wedding was a small and intimate celebration at Sea Crest Nursery in Santa Barbara, California, with about 170 people. The guest list was filled with celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, and the cast of Only Murders in the Building. The Knot referred to it as one of the most stunning celebrity weddings of the year.
Selena looked absolutely beautiful in a Ralph Lauren custom satin dress with delicate embroidery, and Benny looked sharp in a traditional black tuxedo. The night was all about music, emotional speeches, and a Michelin-starred dinner, which made it a heartwarming and memorable celebration.
