Enrique Iglesias greets fans with a Namaste during his Mumbai concert at MMRDA Grounds.
Singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias made a triumphant return to India this week, performing two back-to-back sold-out shows at Mumbai’s MMRDA Grounds on October 29 and 30. The concerts, part of his global tour, marked his first visit to India since 2012, a comeback that fans had eagerly awaited.
A Night Of Nostalgia And Singalongs
For those who grew up with his music, the evening was drenched in nostalgia. Enrique performed many of his chart-topping hits such as Bailamos, Escape, Hero, and Be With You with fans singing along to every word. During Hero, he paused mid-song, allowing the audience to take over, smiling as he folded his hands and said “Namaste.” The emotional connection between the singer and his Indian fans was palpable, turning the arena into a giant karaoke of memories.
Adding a fun twist, Enrique briefly teased the iconic beat of Panjabi MC’s Mundian Tu Bach Ke Rahi, earning roars of approval from the crowd before segueing into his next number.
While Enrique’s vocals occasionally wavered and lacked the smooth tone of his earlier years, his warmth and charm kept the audience enthralled. His energy never faltered as he reminisced about his first trip to India in 2004, drawing loud cheers from those who had followed his career since the beginning.
Among the concert’s attendees were several Bollywood stars including Malaika Arora, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Sonal Chauhan, and Pragya Jaiswal, all spotted singing and dancing along to his hits.
For over an hour, Enrique’s performance felt less like a concert and more like a reunion where music bridged years and memories. Even without vocal perfection, his sincerity and stage presence carried the show. For fans who had waited more than a decade, it wasn’t just about seeing him live again; it was about reliving the soundtrack of their youth.
