Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away on Saturday due to kidney failure. He was 74. His role as Indravadan in the popular sitcom Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai remains one of Indian TV’s most iconic comic performances. Soon after his death, his Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai co-star Rajesh Kumar, who played his on-screen son Rosesh Sarabhai, shared an emotional note on social media, mourning his demise. He called it his ‘worst hour’, and wrote that it feels like he has lost his father. He remembered Satish Shah, and called his death a massive loss to the entertainment industry, and to the Sarabhai family.
Rajesh Kumar Mourns Satish Shah’s Death
On Saturday, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai actor Rajesh Kumar, who played Satish Shah’s on-screen son Rosesh in the show, mourned the veteran actor’s death. “This is the worst hour for me… I still cannot process that Satish ji is no more… all I can say is that it feels I have lost my father… A man full of life n humour. Challenging everything.. Made his name left his mark as an actor… this is a big big loss to the industry and us (Sarabhai’s family). Let’s pray for his departed soul and keep him in your prayers..,” he wrote.
For the unversed, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai aired from 2004 to 2006, and remains one of the most iconic and memorable Indian comedy shows. The cast included Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, and others.
Over a career of more than forty years, Satish Shah became a household name in Indian cinema and television through his memorable roles. He made his acting debut with Arvind Desai Ki Ajeeb Dastaan (1978) and went on to feature in more than 250 films over his illustrious career.
He achieved cult status with his iconic performance in the 1983 film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. He played the role of Municipal Commissioner D’Mello in the film directed by Kundan Shah. Satish Shah also starred in films such as Shakti, Hum Saath Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Fanaa, Om Shanti Om and others.
Satish Shah’s Death
Satish Shah passed away due to kidney failure. His health suddenly deteriorated at home, and he was rushed to Hinduja Hospital, where he passed away. As per a report in India Today, Satish Shah had been battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant. His manager told the news portal that the body remains at the hospital, and the funeral will take place on Sunday.
