After a triumphant theatrical run, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, is all set to make its digital debut — just in time for Halloween. The fantasy-thriller, which captivated audiences with its mythological depth and haunting visuals, will begin streaming on JioHotstar from October 31, 2025.

Lokah’s World Comes to OTT

Confirming the much-awaited release, the platform shared on social media, “The world of Lokah unfolds exclusively on JioHotstar, streaming from October 31st.” The announcement has thrilled fans who’ve been waiting to revisit the movie’s intricate universe and atmospheric storytelling after its August 28 theatrical premiere.

The Story of Chandra — A Myth Reimagined

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra follows Chandra, a mysterious woman who arrives in Karnataka from Sweden at the behest of Moothon (The Elder), the leader of a clandestine organization. Living a quiet, solitary life in Bengaluru, Chandra spends her nights working at a café and tries to blend into the city’s chaos.

Across from her lives Sunny, a young medical college dropout who quickly becomes fascinated by his enigmatic neighbour. But what begins as an ordinary connection soon spirals into something far darker — when Chandra becomes entangled in the operations of an organ trafficking ring, only to reveal that she is not who she appears to be.

As the story unfolds, Chandra’s true identity — the mythical being Kalliyankattu Neeli — comes to light, setting the stage for a gripping tale of folklore, fear, and survival. Together with her unlikely allies, she must confront the sinister forces closing in on her, blending elements of mythology, mysticism, and human emotion.

Star Cast and Creative Team

The film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan in a powerful titular role, with Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salim Kumar, Vijayaraghavan, Jain Andrews, Shivajith Padmanabhan, and Nishanth Sagar in key supporting roles.

Adding star power, Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, and Sunny Wayne make extended cameo appearances, while Mammootty lends his voice to the role of Moothon.

Several Malayalam cinema favourites — including Anna Ben, Soubin Shahir, Santhy Balachandran, Ahaana Krishna, and Balu Varghese — also feature in brief appearances.

Directed and written by Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. The film features music by Jakes Bejoy, cinematography by Nimish Ravi, and editing by Chaman Chakko.

A Universe in the Making

The film marks the beginning of a larger cinematic universe, with the next instalment — Lokah Chapter 2 — already in development, this time headlined by Tovino Thomas.

With its impending OTT release, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra promises to reach a wider audience, offering a perfect blend of folklore, suspense, and cinematic grandeur — a world where myth and modernity collide.
