Richa Moorjani, best known for her role as Kamala in the hit Netflix series Never Have I Ever, shared exciting news with her fans on Diwali 2025. The actress announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Bharat Rishi Moorjani, posting a series of heartfelt photos from a pregnancy shoot.
On Instagram, she wrote, “It’s been quite the journey, but this Diwali feeling extra grateful for this light that is about to enter our lives.”

Her announcement quickly drew warm wishes from friends and co-stars. Never Have I Ever lead Maitreyi Ramakrishnan celebrated in the comments, writing, “CONGRATULATIONS!!!” while Poorna Jagannathan added, “We’re having a babyyyyyyy. I can’t wait to.” LaRhonza Lee Rodriguez, who plays Fabiola Torres, responded with a flurry of pink hearts and emojis. Series creator Mindy Kaling also chimed in, expressing, “I can’t wait to meet this kid!! You are even more beautiful pregnant! Blessings and love.”
Richa Moorjani married Bharat Rishi Moorjani in 2019. She has gained recognition not only for Never Have I Ever but also for her role as Indira Olmstead in the fifth season of the American crime drama Fargo. Never Have I Ever, which premiered on Netflix in April 2020, follows Indian-American high schooler Devi Vishwakumar navigating the challenges of adolescence after the sudden death of her father.
Born and raised in Saratoga, California, Moorjani attended Saratoga High School and later graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a major in communications and a minor in dramatic arts. Her father is Bhojpuri from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and her mother is Kannadiga from Karnataka. Growing up, her family managed a Bollywood music band, nurturing her early interest in the arts.
Moorjani began her acting career with guest roles on shows such as The Mindy Project, NCIS: Los Angeles, and 9-1-1. She also lent her voice to the 2018 video game Fallout 76. Between 2020 and 2023, she portrayed Kamala Nandiawada, Devi’s cousin, in Never Have I Ever, a role she landed through an open casting call. Reflecting on her character, she has spoken about the challenges faced by women of color in STEM fields, noting, “It’s a real systemic problem where their names are taken off research papers.”
In addition to her work on Never Have I Ever, Moorjani has been involved in the upcoming project Broken Drawer, directed by Rippin Sindher. The film, inspired by true events, follows a young Sikh mother killed while working at her family-owned convenience store in rural California. Moorjani shared with The Hindu, “Rippin called me and told me how special this role was to her, being based on her mother, and that she couldn’t see anyone playing it but me. It turned out to be such a lovely and fulfilling experience.”
